Do you have experience in waste management, recycling, or environmental services? We're looking for a reliable and efficient Environmental Operative to join our team.
As an Environmental Centre Operative in our dairy factory, you will be responsible for day-to-day operations of our environmental centre, which serves as a hub for waste management, recycling, and sustainability initiatives. Your role will involve coordinating the collection, sorting, and processing of various waste streams, implementing recycling programs, and promoting environmental awareness among employees. You will also collaborate with internal and external partners to identify opportunities for waste reduction and resource efficiency.
This position operates on a 4-on-4-off days shift pattern. Hours for this role are 6:00am - 18:00pm.
Environmental Operative Responsibilities Include
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the environmental centre, including waste collection, sorting, and disposal
- Implement and maintain recycling programs for various materials, including paper, plastic, glass, and organic waste
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and standards related to waste management and recycling
- Monitor waste generation and recycling rates, and report on key performance indicators to track progress towards sustainability goals
- Identify opportunities for waste reduction and resource recovery within the factory operations
- To undertake training and to assist in on-the-job training for colleagues or new members of staff as required
Environmental Operative Requirements Include
- Previous experience in waste management, recycling, or environmental services preferred
- Knowledge of waste segregation and recycling practices, as well as relevant regulations and standards
- FLT license is desirable
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams
- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment
- Basic computer skills for record keeping and data entry
- GCSE Maths & English equivalent

Pay: £35,359.22 per year
