Maternity Cover – 1 Year
One Weekend Per Month, Stirling, Scotland
We’re looking for an Out of Hours Weekend Emergency Veterinary Surgeon to join our independent veterinary hospital team in Stirling, Scotland, providing maternity cover for one weekend per month.
The role
The weekend shift runs:
Friday 6pm – Monday 9am, with a break on Saturday morning 9am-12pm when morning clinic is open.
This is one weekend per month, giving you a predictable commitment that can work well alongside another role, locum work or simply a better work-life balance.
There may also be opportunities to pick up additional OOH shifts if you would like to work more.
About us
We are a proudly independent veterinary practice based in Stirling, with a strong commitment to providing high-quality emergency and out-of-hours care.
As well as caring for our own clients and patients, we provide OOH support to other local independent veterinary practices, helping them retain their independence while ensuring their clients have access to excellent emergency care when their daytime practice is closed.
You'll be working within a well-equipped hospital environment, supported by an experienced team, with the facilities needed to properly investigate, treat and hospitalise emergency cases.
Who we're looking for
We're looking for a veterinary surgeon who is:
· Confident managing emergency and OOH cases
· Comfortable working independently and making clinical decisions
· Calm and compassionate when supporting worried owners
· Happy managing hospitalised patients alongside incoming emergencies
· A good communicator and team player
· Keen to work within a genuinely independent veterinary environment
Previous emergency or OOH experience would be advantageous, but most importantly we're looking for someone who is confident, capable and shares our approach to patient and client care.
Why join us?
This could be an ideal opportunity if you enjoy emergency medicine but don't want the commitment of a traditional OOH rota.
You'll have a fixed one-weekend-per-month commitment, the opportunity for additional shifts, and the chance to work within an independent practice where clinical decisions are made by the veterinary team.
You'll also be playing an important role in supporting the wider community of independent veterinary practices across the local area.
