Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprentice - Fabrication & Welding
Location: WECO Engineering, IP25 6JU
Pay: £12.71 per hour, or above depending on age and experience
Build it. Weld it. Make it happen.
Ever wondered how the huge metal structures, machinery and engineered products you see every day are actually made?
As a Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprentice at WECO Engineering, you’ll get to find out.
You’ll work alongside experienced engineers, learning how to turn raw materials into real products using a combination of fabrication, welding, engineering tools and practical skills.
And the best bit?
You’ll earn while you learn.
You’ll complete a nationally recognised Level 2 Engineering Operative Apprenticeship while gaining real-world experience that could launch your career in engineering.
What will you actually be doing?
This isn’t an apprenticeship where you’ll spend all day watching someone else do the interesting stuff.
You’ll gradually get hands-on with real engineering work, learning how to:
- Read and understand engineering drawings.
- Measure and mark out materials accurately.
- Cut, shape and prepare metal materials.
- Use a range of engineering hand tools and power tools safely.
- Learn professional welding and fabrication techniques.
- Assemble fabricated components accurately.
- Carry out quality checks to make sure products meet the required standards.
- Follow engineering health and safety procedures.
- Keep your work area clean, organised and professional.
- Work as part of a skilled engineering team to complete real customer projects.
You’ll start by learning the basics and build your skills as your confidence grows.
No one expects you to know everything on day one. That’s what the apprenticeship is for.
