Beauty Therapy Tutor
Job Purpose
To deliver engaging, high-quality Level 2 and Level 3 Beauty Therapy education to students aged 11–17 years within an Alternative Provision setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching both the practical and theoretical elements of Beauty Therapy, supporting students to develop vocational skills, confidence and recognised qualifications.
The Beauty Therapy Tutor will create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment that meets the individual needs of young people, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, or behavioural challenges. The role also involves safeguarding students at all times and working collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals to support each learner’s progress.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Level 2 Beauty Therapy qualification.
- Level 3 Beauty Therapy qualification.
- Previous experience working as a Beauty Therapist.
- Confident in delivering both practical and theory-based Beauty Therapy lessons.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A passion for supporting and inspiring young people.
Desirable
- A teaching qualification (such as AET, PTLLS or Level 3 Award in Education and Training).
- An assessing qualification (TAQA or equivalent).
- Experience working within Alternative Provision, SEN, SEMH or behavioural support settings.
- Safeguarding and First Aid qualifications.

Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Level 2 and Level 3 Beauty Therapy lessons.
- Teach both practical and theoretical elements of the curriculum.
- Demonstrate professional beauty therapy treatments and techniques.
- Support students in developing industry-standard practical skills.
- Adapt teaching methods to suit individual learning styles and abilities.
- Assess learner progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Prepare and maintain salon equipment and teaching resources.
- Promote professionalism and excellent client care throughout practical sessions.
Student Support
- Build positive, professional relationships with students.
- Encourage learners to develop confidence, independence and self-esteem.
- Motivate students to engage positively with education.
- Support students with additional learning, emotional or behavioural needs.
- Promote attendance, punctuality and positive behaviour.
- Encourage learners to work towards recognised qualifications and future employment opportunities.
Behaviour and Safeguarding
- Safeguard the welfare of all students at all times.
- Maintain a calm, safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Implement behaviour management strategies where required.
- Report safeguarding concerns promptly in line with organisational policies.
- Support students in accordance with their EHCPs where applicable.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion throughout all teaching activities.
Administration
- Complete daily attendance registers and communicate attendance with referring schools.
- Contact parents or carers regarding non-attendance where required.
- Complete daily student progress records.
- Maintain accurate learner files and assessment records.
- Monitor student progress and contribute to reviews.
- Ensure daily, weekly, termly and annual administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.
Health and Safety
- Ensure all practical sessions comply with current Health & Safety legislation.
- Maintain excellent hygiene and infection control standards.
- Ensure all salon equipment, tools and products are cleaned, sanitised and maintained appropriately.
- Promote safe working practices at all times.
Team Working
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals.
- Attend team meetings, training and continuous professional development sessions.
- Contribute positively to curriculum development and service improvement.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
- Follow all organisational policies and procedures.
- Raise concerns appropriately through safeguarding and whistleblowing procedures where necessary.
General Responsibilities
- Attend student review meetings where required.
- Complete all mandatory training relevant to the role.
- Keep professional knowledge and industry skills up to date.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Line Manager.
Salary and Hours
- Hours: Term-time only, Tuesday to Friday.
- Working hours: Negotiable.
- Salary: Negotiable, depending on qualifications and experience.
