The UK Student Recruitment team welcomes applications for the Schools and Colleges Development Coordinator (Pre-16) role. This position will lead the University's pre-16 engagement, supporting the development of a future student pipeline through targeted outreach, partnership working, and aspiration-raising activities with young people in Years 7–11.
The role will play a key part in delivering the University's Access and Participation Plan (APP), contributing to both pre-16 attainment raising and progression into post-16 and post-18 education. Working closely with the Student Journey Team and a range of external partners, the postholder will help ensure that young people from all backgrounds are supported in considering higher education as a realistic and achievable future pathway.
The successful candidate will design and deliver engaging outreach activities for pre-16 students, including assemblies, workshops, presentations, on-campus events and targeted interventions. They will work directly with schools and pupils to raise awareness of higher education pathways at an early stage, helping young people make informed decisions about their future education and career opportunities.
The role will involve building and maintaining strong relationships with schools, teachers, advisers and key sector partners, including the Southern Universities Network (SUN). The postholder will serve as a key contact for pre-16 engagement, providing guidance and support to stakeholders and representing the University professionally and positively across the region.
The postholder will lead and support a range of outreach and recruitment events, including pre-16 campus visits and wider widening participation activities, including the Discover Winchester Summer School. They will also contribute to larger University recruitment events, such as Open Days and Taster Days, collaborating with colleagues across UK Student Recruitment, Student Journey and academic departments.
The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator with strong presentation and relationship-building skills. They will be creative, approachable and highly organised, with the ability to engage and inspire young people while working effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and partners.
