We are searching for an enthusiastic night support staff member to join our Pendennis House team, supporting people with learning disabilities and mental health support needs in Wadebridge. We would prefer you to have some experience, but we understand that care and support experience doesn't always come from paid roles. Having the right care ethos and attitude and willingness to learn is just as valuable - so we are more than happy to provide training to candidates we feel are a good match to our value base.
Pendennis House supports people who live in a complex of properties in Wadebridge. We have a hub area within the complex, where the people we support socialise and enjoy themed events. Every day is different, and is led by each person and what they wish to do for the day. Night support workers ensure the safety and support of our service users through the night. There are 4 waking night staff on duty at night, and staff may be based within the homes of the people we support, or in the 'hub' area of our complex, monitoring assistive technology.
To give you some insight into the people we support, they have been asked what they would like their staff to do with them (generally in the day) and what attributes they would like their staff to have. Staff work with all the people we support and rotate through the week.
D: a passionate animal lover who loves nothing more than getting up close and personal with friendly furries - especially dogs. Looking for a sociable support worker who can take him horse riding, find treasures in charity shops, go to music concerts and positively promote his sociable nature. He would love staff who are fans of movies and music who he can share trivia and chats with.
K: a lady who loves going out and about venturing around the best of what Cornwall has to offer. Beaches, woods, shops and tourist hotspots are all things she enjoys and she would love for her support staff to help her out and about to the places she loves, as well as new ones. Enjoys parties and celebrations and wants someone who can support her to enjoy as many festivities as she can.
I: a gent who loves nothing more than a chinwag over a coffee, as well as his trips out and about over Cornwall. Likes getting to know people and all about them and is looking for support to spend some time with him supporting him to his favourite destinations, revisiting those from his past as well as venturing to new places, especially those near the sea.
J: Full of energy and excitement, he is looking for support from likeminded people who don't mind getting wet and dirty on the beach, the woods or on long walks - no matter what the weather may be. Loves sensory activities (the messier the better!) both at home and out and visiting places where he is free to run, jump and play using his energy in a positive way.
M: Loves cartoons and sensory activities, as well as nature, and he is looking for people who he can visit his favourite places with, getting the chance to be up close with his favourite birds. At home, he is looking for support with people who will engage in sensory activity as well as will join in with his games and imagination.
A: A big fan of sports, music and movies, he loves to spend some time revisiting the hits of the 80's and singing along with his support, indulging in his passion for these likes. Also keen to keep the streets clean, he is looking for likeminded support who can support him in the local community to tidy up, as well as a little further afield.
R: loves nothing more than watching the traffic pass by as well as playing games and exploring sensory activity. A very sociable man who is looking for people who will take the time to get to know him, engaging and socialising with him, as well as supporting him to develop his skills.
