As our business continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Level 3 Mobile Phone & Electronics Repair Technician to join our technical team at our facility in Cannock, Staffordshire.
This is a senior, hands-on technical position for an experienced repair professional with extensive knowledge of board-level diagnostics, microsoldering and component-level repair.
The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate a minimum of five years' relevant professional electronics or device repair experience, including substantial practical experience with microsoldering.
About the Role
As a Level 3 Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing complex faults across a range of mobile phones, tablets, laptops and other electronic devices.
Unlike conventional Level 1 repairs such as screen and battery replacements, this position will primarily involve faults requiring advanced diagnostics and component-level or logic-board repair.
You will be expected to confidently identify faults, determine appropriate repair strategies and carry out precision microsoldering and board-level repairs to a consistently high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced fault diagnosis of mobile phones, tablets, laptops and related electronic devices.
- Board-level and component-level electronic repairs.
- Microsoldering using professional soldering and rework equipment.
- Diagnosis and repair of damaged logic boards and PCBs.
- Replacement of damaged or defective board-level components.
- Repair of charging circuits, connectors, ports and associated components.
- Diagnosis and repair of liquid-damaged devices where technically and economically viable.
- Trace, pad and connector repair where appropriate.
- Diagnosis of power, charging, boot, display and communication-related faults.
- Use of microscopes, multimeters, soldering stations, hot-air rework equipment and other professional diagnostic equipment.
- Testing completed repairs to ensure devices meet Renew Kings' high quality standards.
- Accurately recording faults, diagnostic findings and completed repairs.
- Supporting other technicians with complex technical diagnoses.
- Identifying recurring faults and opportunities to improve repair processes.
- Contributing to the research and development of new repair and refurbishment techniques.
Essential Experience & Skills
Applicants must have:
- A minimum of five years' demonstrable professional experience within mobile phone, laptop or electronics repair.
- Significant practical experience in microsoldering and board-level repair.
- Strong knowledge of mobile phone and laptop construction and common failure points.
- Experience diagnosing faults beyond simple modular or component replacement.
- Confidence using microscopes and precision soldering/rework equipment.
- Experience with hot-air rework and professional soldering stations.
- Good understanding of electronic components and PCB architecture.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and precision.
- A meticulous, quality-focused approach to workmanship.
- The ability to work independently on complex repairs.
- The ability to work efficiently without compromising repair quality.
Experience repairing Apple iPhone, iPad and MacBook devices would be particularly advantageous, alongside experience with Samsung and other major Android manufacturers.
