Hex Labs Games — Maldon, Essex
£20,400 per year
30 hours per week
Saturdays required. Occasional Sundays preferred on a planned rota.
Hex Labs Games is looking for a Store Supervisor to help support the day-to-day running of our trading card, collectibles and hobby store in Maldon.
We are an independent store selling Pokémon, Warhammer, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Lorcana, Riftbound and a wide range of accessories and hobby products. We also run regular in-store events, tournaments, prereleases and organised play.
This role would suit someone with retail experience, good people skills and a genuine interest in the TCG, tabletop or collectibles space. You do not need to be an expert in every game, but you should be confident speaking with customers, willing to learn and comfortable taking responsibility in a busy shop environment.
The Role
As Store Supervisor, you will help keep the store running smoothly day to day. This includes customer service, stock support, event coordination, social media/customer message assistance, store standards and helping coordinate the team rota.
You will work closely with the business owners and support the store team, but final commercial decisions and major business decisions remain with ownership.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver excellent customer service in store.
- Help customers with product questions, events and general enquiries.
- Keep the store clean, tidy, organised and well presented.
- Help monitor stock levels and flag reorder needs.
- Support stock purchasing recommendations, with final approval handled by ownership.
- Process deliveries and help maintain accurate stock records.
- Assist with in-store events, tournaments, leagues and prereleases.
- Help answer customer questions through social media and online channels.
- Support rota planning, holiday tracking and shift cover.
- Help train and support newer team members.
- Handle customer feedback and day-to-day complaints professionally.
- Escalate larger issues to ownership when needed.
What We Are Looking For
Essential:
- At least 1 year of retail experience.
- Good knowledge of, or strong interest in, TCGs, tabletop games, hobby retail or collectibles.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Good general IT ability.
- Reliable, organised and able to take responsibility.
- Comfortable working in a customer-facing environment.
- Able to work Saturdays.
- Able to work occasional Sundays, usually once or twice per month, on a booked rota basis.
Desirable:
- Previous supervisor, keyholder or senior retail assistant experience.
- Experience with Shopify, EPOS systems or stock management systems.
- Experience attending or helping run TCG events.
- Knowledge of Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Warhammer, Lorcana, Riftbound or similar.
- Experience answering customer questions through social media.
About You
You should be practical, reliable and confident with people. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of day-to-day tasks, keep the store organised and help create a positive experience for customers and players.
This is a hands-on role in a growing independent store, so the right person will be happy helping wherever needed, from serving customers and organising stock to setting up events and supporting the team.
