SEND & Inclusion Link Member – ROC College

Remote | Devon or Cornwall based
Four 2-hour committee meetings per year | 2-year minimum term
About the role
United Response are looking for an experienced SEND & Inclusion Link Member to join the Education Governing Committee at ROC College and provide specialist expertise in SEND, inclusion, accessibility and learner participation.
You’ll provide independent challenge and assurance around the quality and effectiveness of SEND provision, helping ensure learners receive high-quality, person-centred education and support that enables them to achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives.
As the Committee’s specialist lead for SEND and inclusion, you’ll help ensure learner needs, accessibility, equality and inclusion remain central to strategic decision-making.

You will need to demonstrate:
- Knowledge or experience of SEND, disability, autism or inclusive education

A passion for improving opportunities and outcomes for learners with additional needs

The ability to think strategically and contribute to long-term development

Confidence to provide constructive challenge and informed support

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Integrity, discretion and a commitment to confidentiality

The ability to work collaboratively and respect differing perspectives

A commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion and learner-centred approaches

A willingness to undertake relevant governance and SEND training
Desirable experience
Experience in one or more of the following would be beneficial:
- SEND leadership, education or specialist learning support

Disability inclusion and accessibility

Further or specialist education

Educational psychology, therapy or allied professions

Supported employment, transitions or preparation for adulthood

Inspection, quality assurance or regulatory compliance

Governance, trustee or committee experience

Lived experience of disability, autism, learning disabilities or caring responsibilities
