Role: Family Engagement Practitioner
Salary: £30,000
Hours: 40 hrs. Full Time 9-5 with flexibility for family contact arrangements
Supervised by: Clinical and Care Lead
Parkview Care are looking for a Family Engagement Practitioner- this is a brand-new position within the organisation.
This exciting role has been developed to strengthen our work with families and further enhance the outcomes we achieve for the children and young people we look after. We know that positive family relationships, effective communication, and meaningful engagement play a vital role in supporting children’s progress, and this new position will provide an essential part in achieving this. The successful candidate will be required to support our homes in Kent and Cambridgeshire.
Purpose of The Role
To support positive engagement between the home and families by coordinating communication, facilitating family involvement, and promoting accountability and partnership working to improve outcomes for children and to complete direct work with families in line with children's care plans.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a consistent point of contact for families linked to the residential service.
- Build professional working relationships with parents, carers, and extended family members.
- Coordinate, arrange, supervise, and support family contact sessions where required.
- Provide regular updates and communication to families regarding children’s progress, plans, and key events.
- Complete direct work with families to support engagement, boundaries, routines, and understanding of the child’s needs in line with the child’s care plan.
- Work alongside the professional network to support care planning and family involvement.
- Challenge families appropriately and constructively where concerns, risks, or barriers to progress are identified.
- Attend relevant meetings and contribute information relating to family engagement and contact.
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and case notes in line with organisational policies.
- Promote safeguarding, welfare, and the best interests of children and young people at all times.
Person Specification
- Experience of working with families.
- Understanding of family social work legislation.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to manage challenging conversations professionally and confidently.
- Understanding of safeguarding and professional boundaries.
- Organised and able to coordinate multiple areas of work effectively.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Must have a full UK driving licence
Pay: £30,000.00 per year
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Kent
