As a Domiciliary Care Worker, you will deliver high-quality, compassionate care and support to clients in their homes. This role demands a person-centered approach that ensures the dignity, privacy, personal choice, and independence of each individual are upheld. You will assist individuals in living independently while maintaining their autonomy, responding to their unique preferences, needs, and values.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Location: Various Locations (Field-Based)

Reporting To: Registered Manager & Care Coordinator

DBS Requirement: Enhanced DBS Check

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Delivering The Highest Standard Of Quality Care To All Customers

Provide person-centred care tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each individual. Always respect the client’s choices and promote their independence.
Assist with personal care (e.g., bathing, dressing, grooming) in a respectful, dignified manner, following care plans closely.
Support with mobility and ensure safe transferring between positions or locations using appropriate moving and handling techniques.
Administer prescribed medications, ensuring correct dosage and monitoring for side effects.
Prepare meals and support clients with eating, maintaining nutritional standards and preferences.
Assist with domestic duties such as light cleaning, laundry, and shopping, ensuring a safe and comfortable living environment.
Provide companionship and engage in social activities to alleviate feelings of loneliness and promote emotional wellbeing.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of daily care activities, changes in condition, and any incidents.
Monitor and report any concerns regarding the customer’s health, behavior, or environment to the line manager or supervisor promptly.
Ensure safe handling of customer property and equipment, maintaining responsibility and respect.
Follow emergency procedures when necessary, ensuring the safety and well-being of clients.

Supporting the Office and your fellow team members

Keep accurate records for each customer in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Attend staff meetings, training, and appraisals as required to ensure continuous professional development and team collaboration.
Report concerns or safeguarding issues to the line manager immediately, ensuring appropriate actions are taken.
Assist with covering care calls when requested, ensuring continuity of care.
Notify the office of any changes in a service user’s condition or circumstances that may affect their care needs.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THE POST

Caring and compassionate approach to people requiring care and support.
Ability to work independently and use own initiative, whilst also collaborating effectively as part of a team.
Excellent time management with the ability to maintain punctuality and reliability.
Strong communication skills, including proficiency in reading, writing, and recording accurate care logs.
Commitment to quality care, focusing on the continuous improvement of service delivery.
Attention to detail in following care plans and documenting care-related activities.
Ability to recognize and report poor practice or safeguarding concerns.
Respect for individuals’ dignity, privacy, and rights.
Adaptable in working with people of varying needs and in different home environments.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

QCF Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent).
Previous experience in a care role (paid or unpaid).
Full UK driver’s license and access to a vehicle to travel between clients’ homes.
Specialist training in areas such as dementia care, moving and handling, medication administration.
Understanding of the needs of individuals with specific conditions, such as elderly care, dementia, or disabilities.
Flexible and adaptable approach to care tasks and working hours.

PERFORMANCE MEASURES:

Punctuality and timekeeping – consistently arriving on time for appointments and shifts.
Attendance – maintaining a strong attendance record and minimal unplanned absences.
Care record accuracy – ensuring all documentation is completed correctly and on time.
Adherence to care standards and care plans, ensuring clients receive the highest quality of care.
Feedback from clients and colleagues – consistently demonstrating professionalism, respect, and empathy in all interactions.
Quality of care provided – measured through service user satisfaction and feedback.

Working Hours: Flexible, including evenings and weekends as required to meet the needs of clients.
