About us
Lake Country House Hotel & Spa is an old hunting and fishing lodge in fifty acres in the Irfon Valley, mid-Wales. Thirty-two rooms and suites, a restaurant, lounges with log fires, a bar, a spa, a nine-hole golf course and a fishing lake. We are independent and operate as a small team to provide the best possible experience for our guests.
Guests come back year after year, mostly for the people. That is what this job is about.
This is a rural spot. Builth Wells is seven miles away, Llandrindod Wells twelve, and public transport is limited.
Hours
40 hours a week, worked as five shifts across seven days (some splits may be necessary on occasion), covering earlies and lates. Weekends and bank holidays are part of the rota. That is when the hotel is busiest and it is not something we can be flexible on. What we can talk about is which weekends, and how the rest of your week works around your commitments.
What we offer
- £29,500 to £32,500 a year, depending on experience
- A share of the hotel tronc, allocated on hours worked, on the same basis as the rest of the team. It is paid on top of your salary, not out of it, and varies month to month.
- Meals on duty
- Workplace pension
- Paid holiday
The role
You will run the front of house on shift: reception, the lounges, the bar and the restaurant, from the first check-in of the day to the last coffee of the night.
That means leading the team on duty, briefing them at the start and backing them up through it. Being in the dining room through dinner rather than hearing about it afterwards. Training and developing the people around you.
You will report to the General Manager, who is on the floor most days. In a hotel this size you are the person guests come to when something needs sorting, and the team as well.
If you are looking for an office job, this is not it.
What you'll bring
- Supervisory or duty management experience in a hotel, restaurant or bar, or a senior front of house role you are ready to step up from
- Calm judgement when under pressure
- Genuine warmth with guests, and the ability to draw it out of a team
- Care with detail on bookings, billing and handovers
Eligibility
You must have the right to work in the UK, and we will ask to see evidence of that before you start, as we do for everyone. We cannot sponsor visas for this role, as it does not meet the salary and occupation requirements of the Skilled Worker route.
How to apply
Apply through Indeed. Send your CV with a short note about where you have worked and what you like about running a shift.
We read every application ourselves and will come back to you either way. If you need any adjustment to the process, tell us and we will sort it.
We look forward to hearing from you.
