Urban Bloom Gardening is a small gardening business looking after private gardens across Southwark, Lewisham, Greenwich, Lambeth and Bromley.
We garden with nature, not against it. No chemicals, organic fertilisers, peat free compost, wildlife friendly planting, and pruning the right plant at the right time so our clients get more blooms year after year. Our customers do not want a blitz and go. They want a garden that gets better every visit.
We are looking for an experienced gardener to run sessions on their own across South East London.
This suits two kinds of people
- You already run your own gardening business and want more hours filling the gaps in your week, on a self employed basis
- You want a proper job in gardening with steady, regular work
Either works. Self employed or a zero hours contract, whichever suits you.
What you would be doing
- Garden maintenance sessions: mowing, edging, weeding, deadheading and border care
- Pruning and shaping shrubs and hedges at the right time of year
- Seasonal planting, mulching and soil improvement
- Garden clearance, including ivy, overgrowth and climber removal
- Spotting pests and disease early and knowing what to do about it
- Agreeing priorities with the client before each visit and leaving every garden tidier than you found it
What you need
- Real gardening experience. You can identify common garden plants and you know when to prune what
- A full driving licence and your own transport to get to gardens
- The confidence to work on your own and deal with clients directly, because you are representing us on the day
- Reliable, on time, happy working outdoors in most weather
- Comfortable with battery powered tools
- If you are working self employed, your own public liability insurance & tools
You do not need formal qualifications. Years of doing the work properly counts for more.
What we offer
- £15 to £25 per hour depending on experience and contract type
