Are you passionate about helping children with additional needs thrive? We're working with a friendly and supportive primary school near Belmont, Hereford that is looking to welcome a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to its team.
The school is offering immediate interviews and trial days, with flexibility to start either as soon as possible or at the beginning of the new academic year.
This is an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced teachers and support staff, providing meaningful support to pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs. You'll play an important role in helping children build confidence, develop independence, and achieve their individual goals within a caring and inclusive learning environment.
Your Role
As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small intervention groups.
- Adapt classroom activities to suit individual learning needs.
- Encourage positive engagement, independence, and participation throughout the school day.
- Assist children with a range of additional needs, including Autism, SEMH, speech and language difficulties, and other learning needs.
- Work closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and external professionals to deliver tailored support.
- Help promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
- Assist with personal care and daily routines where required.
- Observe and record pupil progress to contribute towards support plans and reviews.
What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from candidates who have:
- Experience working with children or young people in education, childcare, care, youth work, or a similar setting.
- A patient, positive, and flexible approach.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
- The right to work in the UK.
Desirable Experience
While not essential, applications are welcomed from candidates with:
- Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs.
- Knowledge of Autism, SEMH, speech and language needs, or inclusive education practices.
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or qualifications in Childcare, Health & Social Care, or Youth Work.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Welsh language skills.
