Our caseload is varied and includes children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs. We have particular experience supporting autistic children, including those who are non-speaking or minimally speaking, and AAC is an integral part of our practice. We combine evidence-informed practice, clinical expertise and the lived experience of neurodivergent people to provide therapy that is genuinely neurodiversity affirming.
We're looking for a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapist to join our supportive team from 23 November 2026 for maternity cover, with the potential for a permanent role.

Job Description
To provide high-quality, evidence-informed speech and language assessments and therapy for children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs across clinic, school and home environments.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with children, families, education settings and other professionals to provide high-quality, evidence-informed assessment and intervention that supports participation, connection and communication, while contributing to the continued growth and development of Willow Tree Therapy Services.
Clinical Responsibilities
· Assess, plan, deliver and evaluate individualised speech and language therapy.
- Deliver evidence-informed, child-led and play-based intervention tailored to each child's strengths, interests and communication profile.
- Create opportunities for regulation, engagement, connection and meaningful participation within therapy.
- Support children with a wide range of speech, language and communication needs, including autistic children and those who are non-speaking or minimally speaking.
- Assess, recommend and support the use of AAC where appropriate.
- Produce high-quality reports, therapy plans and recommendations.
- Work collaboratively with families, education settings and other professionals.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.

- Work within HCPC and RCSLT professional standards and codes of conduct.
- Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Manage your own caseload effectively.
- Participate in regular supervision, reflective practice and continuing professional development.
- Contribute positively to the continued development of Willow Tree Therapy Services.
- Comply with safeguarding policies and maintain accurate documentation.

Essential Qualifications
- Degree or postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy.
- HCPC registration.
- Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of child development and evidence-informed, child-led, play-based approaches.
- Understanding of family-centred practice and confidence in coaching and supporting parents and carers.
- Knowledge of neurodiversity-affirming, strengths-based practice, including the importance of regulation, engagement and connection in supporting communication and participation.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with families, education staff and other professionals.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for travel across the local area.
Essential Experience
- Experience gained through undergraduate or postgraduate clinical placements in paediatric speech and language therapy.
- Experience working collaboratively with children, families, education staff and other professionals.
- Experience of assessing, planning and delivering speech and language therapy through undergraduate or postgraduate clinical placements.
Desirable Experience and Knowledge
- Experience working with autistic children, including those who are non-speaking or minimally speaking.
- Experience supporting children who use, or would benefit from, AAC.
- An understanding of Gestalt Language Processing and approaches that support children who process language in this way.
- Experience working with children with a range of speech, language and communication needs.
