Essential skills and experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate confidently and professionally with members of the public, volunteers, sponsors, businesses and other organisations.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Strong computer skills and confidence using a range of digital platforms and software.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when completing administrative tasks, maintaining records and communicating information.
- Experience of creating engaging social media content across platforms such as Facebook and Instagram.
- A good eye for design and creativity, with the ability to produce attractive and engaging graphics and promotional materials.
- Ability to work independently, use initiative and also work effectively as part of a small team.
- A positive, flexible and can-do attitude, particularly when working in a busy and sometimes unpredictable rescue environment.
- Professional, friendly and approachable manner, with the ability to engage positively with people from all walks of life.
- Ability to remain calm and organised when working under pressure.
Desirable skills and experience
- Knowledge or experience of Canva, WordPress, Meta Business Suite and/or Animal Shelter Manager.
- Experience of organising or supporting events.
- Experience communicating with sponsors, local businesses or community organisations.
- Experience managing social media accounts and creating content calendars.
- Basic understanding of social media engagement, scheduling and insights.
- Experience of handling confidential or sensitive information appropriately.
- Comfortable around dogs (we have a resident office dog)

- A genuine passion for animal welfare and a strong commitment to improving the lives of rescue dogs.
- Compassionate, empathetic and understanding, particularly when dealing with people who may be experiencing difficult or emotional circumstances.
- Enthusiastic and creative, with the ability to bring fresh ideas to our social media, fundraising and events.
- Reliable, trustworthy and willing to get stuck in wherever needed.
- Positive and enthusiastic about representing the rescue and promoting our work within the wider community.
- Comfortable speaking to and building relationships with a wide range of people.
- A team player who is willing to support colleagues and volunteers and contribute to a positive working environment.
- A willingness to learn new systems and develop skills where required.

Hours
Monday – Friday (9am-4pm), Full-Time. Including occasional evening/weekend events.
