Set within one of the UK’s most iconic coastal destinations, Reading Room at the Lido is more than just a café or restaurant. It’s a large-scale hospitality space combining all-day dining, weddings, events, and high-volume seasonal trade.
At The Reading Room, we’re more than just a café. We’re a family-run business built on passion, care, and community. Based on Brighton’s eastern seafront, we’ve grown into a much-loved destination for both locals and visitors, known for our high standards, energy, and warm atmosphere.

Alongside our busy breakfast, lunch, and dinner service, we also host weddings, private events, and large seasonal functions, meaning no two days are ever the same.
With a huge season ahead, we’re looking for an enthusiastic Barista who wants to be part of a fast-paced, exciting environment and help us continue building something special.
What you’ll be doing
- Preparing consistently high-quality coffees and speciality drinks
- Delivering friendly, welcoming service and creating a great first impression
- Maintaining speed, accuracy, and quality during busy service periods
- Taking customer orders and handling payments when required
- Ensuring the coffee station is clean, organised, and fully stocked
- Supporting the wider front of house team during peak periods
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, food safety, and presentation
- Assisting with opening, closing, and daily preparation tasks
- Contributing to a positive team environment and exceptional customer experience
Who we’re looking for
- Previous barista experience is preferred, but a great attitude and willingness to learn are just as important
- Passionate about coffee and delivering excellent customer service
- Calm and confident in a busy, high-volume environment
- Positive, proactive, and a genuine team player
- Reliable, organised, and hardworking
- Takes pride in quality, consistency, and attention to detail
