Weapon System Equipment plays a key role in the development and delivery of MBDA's products to our Customers. We operate across the full range of Operational Commands including Land, Naval, Airborne, and, increasingly, the Novel Capability domains ensuring MBDA's systems remain at the forefront of defence capability.
We specialise in providing physical design coherency across Weapon Systems for all phases of the development cycle and are ultimately responsible for the system elements that our end users interact with on a daily basis. Initiatives undertaken by Weapon System Equipment have transformed the way in which the company delivers products. Salary: Circa £49,000-£57,000 depending on experience
Dynamic (hybrid) working: 3-4 days per week on-site due to workload classification
Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship
Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The Opportunity
The role of a Lead Engineer is to work across the systems, software, and hardware domains to manage the activities which support certification of the product(s) and realise the results, delivering evidence to support critical deliveries to customers. You will be expected to be involved in requirements capture and verification activities as well as supporting the resolution of queries from customers and other areas of the business.
This is a varied and exciting role, which includes development of test procedures against systems & software requirements, contributing to requirements definition and fault finding, creation of test strategies, operating within laboratories with the hardware and test systems, supporting the acceptance and certification of the product, stakeholder management, and ensuring technical publications are valid.
As a Lead Engineer, your main responsibilities will include:

Understand and perform the verification stages of the design lifecycle, defining clear test procedures and strategies.

Work within a multi-discipline engineering team (e.g. Systems, mechanical, electrical, software etc…).

Log and track defects found during V&V activities and resulting from customer queries, collaborating with development teams to resolve them.

Own tasks and deliver results, managing schedule, cost, quality and performance metrics for assigned work packages.

Working with the Head of LMS, LMS Architect, and LMS verification teams, use DOORS and IBM Rhapsody (and similar engineering requirements capture tools) to manage requirements, verification scenarios, test procedures, and evidence collection.

Work within a laboratory environment with software, Test Equipment, and the electronic equipment under test.
In addition, as your knowledge and experience grow, you may be expected to:

Run documentation peer reviews.

Grow your professional network through our multi-national defence organisation.

Validate technical publications against product requirements and behaviour.
What we're looking for from you:

Experience with requirements and verification management tools such as IBM DOORS.

Knowledge of systems engineering principles, processes and practices.

Appreciation of requirements engineering at System, Subsystem or Component level.

Knowledge associated with the design and build of hardware.

Awareness of test procedures required to verify products and the gathering of evidence to enable certification.

Confidence in presenting technical engineering information and promoting decision making.

Experience of technical report writing and use of configuration management tools.
