Role Summary
The Hydro Operator will be responsible for continuously sterilise cans using a hydrostatic sterilizer as required by process sheet and as controlled by ISM procedures, and to carry out minor adjustments to minimise quarantines.
Key Responsibilities
- To liaise with shrink-wrap operator to ensure the correct quantities are required
- Advise Fitters and Area Managers of any technical problems that may need resolving
- Operates hydrostatic sterilizer according to ISM and process sheet requirements
- Liaises with filling line operators at end of variety run to ensure varieties are properly
- Carry out minor adjustments to guide belts, chains and variable speed motors to ensure continuous operation
- To collect water treatment chemicals from Eng.
- To feed dosing pump ad check for correct pump operation during shift
- Clean infeed and discharge conveyors on Saturdays, and discharge belts and twisters every 4 hours to prevent bacteria colonization on sterilizing equipment
- To conduct regular checks and records are maintained of temperatures, pressure and speed gauges to ensure sterilizing is carried out within process and parameters
- To ensure reliable operation of the hydrostat
- To follow the written procedures to start up the Hydro from cold, ensuring ‘right first time’
- To calculate QF downtime from lost time records to ensure normal production quarantines are properly controlled
- To complete and sign off P.M report after carrying out tasks
- To able to shut down hydro at the end of weekly production run, ensuring the correct procedures are followed
- To train other operators on how to use the Hydro
Expected Experience and Required Skills
- Must have a basic engineering knowledge and skills to make minor adjustments
- Must have at least 3 months experience/training covering ISM procedures, PMs running adjustments and start-up and shutdown requirements
- Have an understanding and knowledge on how to operate Hydro according to ISM procedures
