Overview
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Motor Vehicle Technician & MOT Tester to join our reputable automotive service centre. The successful candidate will be responsible for MOT testing both Class 4 & 7 vehicles , diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles, ensuring they meet safety and environmental standards. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections to identify mechanical issues and assess overall condition.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on various vehicle systems, including engines, brakes, suspension, and electrical components.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools efficiently to carry out repairs and servicing tasks.
- Carry out MOT testing in accordance with legal requirements, ensuring vehicles meet safety standards before certification.
- Diagnose faults using specialised equipment and provide accurate reports on necessary repairs.
- Assist with vehicle diagnostics, including reading fault codes and conducting system tests.
- Maintain detailed records of all work carried out, including parts used and time spent on each vehicle.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and industry standards.
- Keep the workshop organised, clean, and safe at all times.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Motor Vehicle Technician or similar role within an automotive workshop.
- Valid MOT Tester certification recognised by the DVSA (Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency).
- Strong mechanical knowledge across a broad range of vehicle makes and models.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or components.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Full UK driving licence is essential; own transport is advantageous but not mandatory.
- A proactive attitude with a commitment to delivering high-quality service in a timely manner.
