Part Time Payroll Administrator required for friendly, busy, fast-growing and progressive accountancy practice near Dereham. Nice quiet location with plenty of onsite parking.

We are looking for a reliable and detail-focused Payroll Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a large number of clients, ensuring compliance with relevant statutory requirements and company policies. This role plays a crucial part in supporting our clients and maintaining the financial accuracy of their payroll system.
You’ll need a strong sense of discretion, excellent numerical skills, and a methodical approach to managing sensitive information and meeting tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately process employee timesheets, hours worked, and payroll data for weekly, bi-weekly, and monthly payroll runs.
- Generate electronic payslips, emailed to client or their employees.
- Ensure timely and correct payment of salaries, wages, bonuses, and other compensation.
- Maintain employee payroll records, ensuring all personal and financial data is up to date and secure.
- Prepare and distribute electronic payslips and relevant payroll reports to clients & their employees. Meeting RTI obligations within strict deadlines.
- Resolve payroll-related queries from employees in a professional and timely manner.
- Provide clients with monthly reports showing HMRC liability for Tax & NI.
- Liaise with HMRC or other authorities regarding tax codes, payments, and other payroll-related matters.
- Prepare, distribute and submit year-end documents such as P60s and P11Ds.
- Ensure client compliance with GDPR regulations, and current employment/payroll legislation.
- Reconcile payroll reports and ensure journal entries are posted to client bookkeeping systems.
- Complete required regulations for The Pension Regulator for clients, ensure regular assessments are carried out, setup Pension Schemes on behalf of clients, auto-enrol employees. Upload weekly/monthly contributions to Pension provider.
- Strong knowledge of CIS requirements, processing of sub-contractor invoices, verifying with HMRC where needed, and advising clients of CIS deductions. Providing sub-contractors with monthly payment & deduction reports.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in a payroll role.
- Sound knowledge of payroll processes, UK payroll legislation, and statutory requirements.
- In depth knowledge of Pension regulations & obligations.
- Familiarity with payroll software (e.g., Moneysoft or similar).
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work to meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with staff at all levels.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Familiarity with accounting principles.
- Knowledge of issuing Employment Contracts an advantage.
Additional Vacancy
With the commencement of HMRC’s MTD for Income Tax, we also require a Part-time bookkeeper to undertake client book-keeping, including inputting expenses & income, bank reconciliations, VAT Returns, completing records quarterly and transmitting to HMRC.
This can be undertaken as well as the Payroll vacancy and allow for a Full-time position.
Must possess:
· Sage/Xero/Quickbooks experience
· Good knowledge of Spreadsheets (Excel)
· Great written, verbal and communication skills

Pay: £26,728.00-£28,000.00 per year
