ABOUT ROCKLEY MUSIC
Rockley Music is a growing, creative, and highly professional music education company based in Nottingham. We work primarily in primary schools and educational settings across Nottinghamshire and neighbouring counties.
Our mission is simple: to deliver high-quality, engaging drum lessons that build confidence, discipline, and musical skill in children of all abilities.
We work at an exciting pace, care deeply about standards, and work closely and passionately with our team.
We are looking for a reliable, skilled, and people-focused drum tutor to join our team.
The role includes delivering small-group drum lessons in primary schools during the school day (8:30am–3:30pm, term time) You will create clear, personalised lesson plans tailored to each pupil’s ability and learning style, and prepare pupils for end-of-year showcases and performances.
Strong communication is essential. You will be expected to communicate confidently with children, school staff, parents, and the Rockley Music team, and to represent Rockley Music professionally at all times.
Full Rockley Music training is provided, and all teaching equipment is supplied. You must already play drums to a good standard, as training is designed to refine delivery and teaching approach, not basic musicianship.
You must have:
- A strong working knowledge of drum kit fundamentals, including rudiments, rhythm, notation, and coordination.
- Excellent timekeeping and reliability.
- A positive, calm, and engaging manner with children.
- The ability to adapt quickly to different pupils and school environments.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and basic computer literacy.
- A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport.
- The right to work in the UK.
- An Enhanced DBS check, or willingness to obtain one.
DESIRABLE (BUT NOT ESSENTIAL)
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring children.
- Experience working in schools or youth settings.
- GCSEs or equivalent.
- At least one year of teaching experience.
WHO THIS ROLE IS FOR
This role suits someone who loves teaching as much as playing, is energetic, organised, and emotionally and socially aware, and can work independently while valuing being part of a growing team. It is ideal for someone seeking long-term, meaningful work in music education and who takes pride in professionalism and consistency.
This is not a casual gig. It is offered with the intention of growing alongside a respected and expanding company. The role is term time only with a start date of end of October.
