Job Description: A lovely client based in Stirling, Scotland is seeking a proactive and practical Property Maintenance & Grounds person to take responsibility for the general upkeep of a private residence and its surrounding garden and grounds in Scotland. The successful candidate will take pride in maintaining the grounds to an exceptional standard, ensuring the property is well presented, safe and ready for the owners' use throughout the year. This is a varied, hands-on role combining generally property maintenance, and someone who enjoys working outdoors and has experience in general property maintenance, gardening and property upkeep.
The property is a beautifully maintained, recently renovated, private residence in Scotland, occupied periodically by the owners. As the house is not occupied permanently, the successful candidate will play an important role in regularly checking the property, identifying anything requiring attention and ensuring the house and grounds remain well maintained, safe and ready for use throughout the year.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the general upkeep and condition of the house, identifying maintenance or repair requirements as they arise
- Regularly checking the exterior of the property, including roofs, slates, guttering, drainage, window sills, external walls, doors, entrances, courtyard walls, gravel and surrounding trees
- Checking that heating, water and other essential household systems are working correctly
- Carrying out straightforward maintenance and repairs where appropriate, and identifying when specialist tradespeople are needed
- Maintaining the garden and outdoor areas, including cutting grass, weeding, trimming borders and vegetation, and clearing woodland areas
- Maintaining trees, cutting up and clearing fallen trees, branches and debris where safe to do so
- Ensuring a good supply of logs and firewood, cutting, splitting, storing and keeping log stores dry and well stocked
- Preparing the house and grounds for seasonal changes and periods of adverse weather, including storm readiness
- Inspecting the property and grounds following storms or severe weather, identifying and arranging repair of any damage
- Regularly inspecting the property during unoccupied periods and coordinating access for contractors and tradespeople as needed
Requirements:
Experience in a similar position
- Good DIY/property maintenance skills
- Experience maintaining gardens
- Full UK driving license
Within a commutable distance to Stirling, Scotland
Working Hours: Flexible, depending when the family is in residence
Salary Offered: £45,000+ gross per annum
