· Carry out minor repair and maintenance tasks as indicated in the Maintenance Logbook and/or as directed by Administration Manager/Matron, giving priority to any job identified as a health and safety hazard. Such tasks to include:
o putting up curtain rails, shelves and picture frames,
o fitting smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors,
o fitting mobility aids including grab rails,
o replacing fuses, plugs and light bulbs,
o fitting door and window locks, and alarms,
o unblocking sinks, and fixing leaking taps and overflow problems, and other basic plumbing tasks,
o adjusting or re-hanging doors,
o moving or assembling items of furniture and setting up equipment, and
o running minor repairs to equipment such as beds and hoists.
· Ensure routine maintenance tasks are carried out to schedule and properly recorded, both to the fabric of the building and to the Home's equipment, to include:
o fire checks and drills,
o other Health & Safety checks and tests,
o equipment checks and cleaning, and
o building checks and maintenance..
· Ensure that the access to the Home is maintained and safe in bad weather.
· Undertake internal repairs and upgrades according to agreed priorities, including painting and decorating, and work in the garden of the Home.
· Purchase, with agreement from the Matron or Administration Manager, household items needed in the Home or materials necessary to complete minor works and decoration.
· Carry out risk assessments of tasks undertaken at the Home and ensure necessary actions are taken to reduce risk.
· Order, receive, unpack and check stock of supplies required in the Home and undertake other portage duties if needed.
· Take and reporting meter readings.
· Put out/get in the Home's rubbish bins, and cleaning these regularly.
· Dispose of large waste items
· Acting as point of liaison with contractors carrying out servicing, maintenance and building work at the Home and checking records and documentation.
· Attending staff meetings, training and supervision as required.
Pay: From £12.71 per hour
