Position: Passenger Fleet Supervisor

Job Responsibilities
- Supervise the day-to-day operation of the passenger fleet, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable transport services.
- Lead, support, and monitor the performance of drivers and transport staff, providing guidance and resolving operational issues.
- Plan and coordinate vehicle schedules, routes, and resource allocation to meet service demands.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant road transport legislation, health and safety regulations, safeguarding requirements, and council policies.
- Monitor vehicle maintenance, inspections, servicing, and defect reporting to ensure fleet roadworthiness and legal compliance.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, complaints, and service issues, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Maintain accurate operational records, including driver documentation, vehicle logs, compliance records, and performance data.
- Liaise with internal departments, external contractors, and service users to ensure high-quality transport services.
- Monitor service performance against agreed standards and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Support recruitment, induction, training, and development of transport staff.
- Manage attendance, conduct performance reviews, and address employee relations matters in line with council procedures.
- Assist with budget monitoring, cost control, and efficient use of fleet resources.
- Respond to operational emergencies and provide cover or support as required to maintain service continuity.
Requirements
- Experience supervising transport, fleet, logistics, or passenger transport operations.
- Knowledge of fleet management practices and transport legislation.
- Good understanding of health and safety, safeguarding, and compliance requirements within transport services.
- Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
- Excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive working relationships.
- Experience maintaining accurate records and preparing operational reports.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications and transport or fleet management systems.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage changing priorities, and respond effectively to emergencies.
- Commitment to delivering high-quality customer-focused services.
- A full, valid UK driving licence (desirable or essential, depending on operational requirements).
