Opious delivers managed network services — including managed Wi-Fi, cellular connectivity, and physical security infrastructure — to enterprise clients across the UK and Europe. We're looking for an Inventory and Field Services Manager to lead field service delivery from our Bovingdon facility in Hertfordshire, and to own the inventory that keeps it running.
You'll manage the field engineering team day to day, planning and dispatching their work so that installations, maintenance visits, and reactive callouts land on time and to standard. Alongside that, you'll own stock control across the facility, the field team, and our installation partners — knowing what's where, keeping it accurate, and making sure the right kit is ready when a job needs it.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coordinate, and develop the field engineering team, whether directly employed or subcontracted
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch field engineers across installations, maintenance visits, and reactive callouts
- Own on-site service quality, workmanship standards, and adherence to RAMS and site access requirements
- Act as the escalation point for field issues, resolving problems and coordinating with clients and delivery partners
- Own inventory control across the Bovingdon facility, the field team, and installation-partner stock
- Manage goods-in, put-away, picking, and equipment issue to engineers
- Manage returns, RMAs, and faulty or recovered equipment
- Forecast stock requirements against upcoming jobs and flag shortfalls early
- Run regular stock counts and reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Define and improve field service and stock control processes
- Report on field performance and stock accuracy to leadership
About You
- Strong experience managing field engineers or a mobile service team in a technical environment
- Experience leading and coordinating teams, whether employed or subcontracted, including performance conversations
- Experience planning, scheduling, and dispatching engineers against installations and reactive work
- Solid stock, inventory, or warehouse control experience, ideally across multiple or third-party-held locations
- A strong grasp of on-site service quality, safe working practices, and RAMS
- A confident, hands-on approach and the ability to resolve issues calmly under pressure
- Experience in managed services, telecoms, connectivity, or physical security is a plus, as is familiarity with structured cabling or stock management systems
- A full UK driving licence
