Stone Well Cottage Day Nursery located In Moulton Village, Northamptonshire, are recruiting!
We are looking for a Part time Nursery Cook to join our lovely small village nursery. The role is working from 10:15-12.45pm, 5 days per week.
The right candidates will ideally have some previous experience of working within a nursery setting or similar however full training can be given for the right candidate. There would be a need to obtain a Level 3 in food hygiene training if you do not already have this to be able to carry out the role successfully.
The role of the Nursery Cook is to provide nutritionally balanced, freshly prepared meals for the children and to be totally responsible for the safe and hygienic management of the nursery kitchen.
The main qualities of a good Nursery Cook are a natural warm personality and flexibility together with an understanding of the nutritional needs of children.
Purpose of Post
1. To prepare and present a freshly cooked lunchtime meal including a dessert for the nursery staff to serve to the children. The Nursery Cook must also provide suitable alternatives to accommodate for children with allergies, particular dietary requests and those who observe religious beliefs.
2. To adhere to the ‘Safer food better business’ standards and record keeping.
3. To prepare and store a light tea for the nursery staff to serve in the afternoon to the children, again following specific requests made by parents.
4. To work with the Nursery Manager to plan a well balanced, healthy and fresh menu.
6. Reporting equipment, maintenance problems to the Nursery Manager.
7. To adhere strictly to Food Hygiene Regulations and other safety procedures at all times.
8. To adhere strictly to the following safety rules;
16. Ensure that the kitchen is spotlessly clean at all times.
17. Ensure that the window sills are kept clear.
20. Wipe down and polish all kitchen machines (e.g. kettles, tumble dryers etc.)
21. Ensure that containers are clearly labelled.
23. Wash out and thoroughly clean all fridges, freezers and cookers.
This is not an exhaustive list of tasks and you may be asked and required to take on other duties or tasks as we see fit to ensure the smooth running of the nursery and to ensure high standards of care for the children.
Everyone within Stonewell Cottage has a responsibility for, and is committed to, safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and for ensuring that they are protected from harm. The manager is responsible for ensuring that all staff are aware of the safeguarding policy and receives the necessary training as defined by the Early Years Foundation stage.
The position will be subject to receiving a clear Enhanced Disclosure Check and satisfactory references. There will be a three month probationary period as standard.
