Position Summary
As a Laptop Technician at National IT Disposal, you will play a key role in ensuring our clients’ assets are processed with the highest levels of security and efficiency. Your primary responsibilities will include performing thorough data sanitisation, removing identifying ownership details, and accurately assessing the condition of laptops and tablets. This position requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining our reputation for excellence in secure IT disposal.

Key Responsibilities:
1) Data Removal & Sanitisation
- Perform secure data wiping, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
- Verify successful data erasure using approved tools and processes, documenting results as required.
2) Asset Assessment & Logging
- Inspect laptops, tablets, and related devices to determine functionality, condition, and resale/refurbishment potential.
- Accurately record asset details (serial numbers, specifications, ownership details) in our tracking system.
- Prepare detailed reports of findings for internal records and client audits.
3) Ownership Detail Removal
- Remove company stickers, labels, and markings from devices in a professional manner.
- Ensure that all embedded ownership data (e.g., BIOS tags, user accounts) is cleared or updated where necessary.
4) Refurbishment & Basic Repairs
- Perform basic hardware repairs or upgrades (e.g., RAM, hard drive replacements) on eligible devices.
- Collaborate with senior technicians for advanced troubleshooting or repairs.
5) Quality Control & Compliance
- Adhere to company protocols and industry best practices for data security and environmental guidelines.
- Maintain a clean, organised workspace that upholds health, safety, and regulatory standards.
6) Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with other team members (Warehouse Operatives, Logistics Coordinators) to streamline processes.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding stock levels, equipment needs, and workflow improvements.

Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: Proven experience in IT hardware repair, asset management, or a similar technical role.
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with data wiping software, hardware imaging, and asset tracking systems.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy in data entry and thoroughness in data sanitization.
- Compliance Mindset: Knowledge of GDPR, WEEE, and related regulations (or willingness to learn and apply quickly).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot basic hardware and software issues.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills for updating records and collaborating with colleagues.
- Physical Capability: Comfortable with standing, bending, and lifting equipment (within safe lifting guidelines).
