Job Overview
Wetherby | Approx. 16 hours bookkeeping per week + additional business support hours
We’re looking for an organised, accurate and proactive Bookkeeper & Business Support professional to join our team in Wetherby.
This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a genuinely varied role. Bookkeeping will be at the heart of the position, with an estimated workload of around 16 hours per week, while additional hours will be used to provide wider administrative and operational support across the business.
The role would suit someone who enjoys the structure and accuracy of bookkeeping, but also likes being involved in the day-to-day running of a business rather than working solely within accounts.
The bookkeeping side of the role
You’ll take responsibility for keeping our financial records accurate, organised and up to date. Typical responsibilities will include:
- Accurate entry and processing of financial transactions
- Reconciling bank accounts and other accounts
- Obtaining and organising supplier invoices
- Raising and sending customer invoices
- Sending payment reminders and following up outstanding accounts
- Responding to day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable queries
- Organising contras where required
- Ensuring supporting documentation is obtained and correctly recorded
- Preparing and sharing payroll information with our accountants
- Liaising with our external accountants when required
- Maintaining accurate and well-organised financial records
- Supporting other bookkeeping and finance administration as the business requires
Experience using Xero and Dext is preferred.
The business support side
Due to the nature of our business, we estimate that the core bookkeeping workload will account for approximately 16 hours each week.
Any additional contracted hours will be used across a varied mix of business administration and team support. This could include tasks such as:
- Ordering office and business supplies
- Helping organise team events and activities
- Supporting general office administration
- Coordinating information and documentation
- Assisting with ad-hoc projects
- Providing practical support to the wider team as business needs arise
This makes the position particularly well suited to someone who is flexible, resourceful and happy to get involved, rather than someone looking for a narrowly defined bookkeeping-only position.
About you
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has previous bookkeeping or accounts administration experience
- Has excellent attention to detail and takes pride in accuracy
- Is confident managing accounts payable and receivable
- Is comfortable following up invoices and resolving account queries
- Is highly organised and able to manage competing priorities
- Communicates confidently with colleagues, suppliers, customers and accountants
- Is proactive and comfortable working independently
- Is happy to turn their hand to wider administrative tasks when required
- Ideally has practical experience using Xero and Dext
Working arrangements
This is an in-house role based in Wetherby and we are looking for someone who can become an active part of the business and wider team.
The position itself offers a hybrid mix of bookkeeping and broader business support responsibilities. Any potential hybrid working arrangements between the office and home would need to be reviewed and agreed based on the individual, the requirements of the role and the needs of the business, and should not be assumed as part of the position.
If you’re an experienced bookkeeper who enjoys variety, likes being part of a team and wants a role where you can make a real contribution beyond the accounts function, we’d love to hear from you.
