JOB DESCRIPTION AND PERSON SPECIFICATION
JOB TITLE: Care Assistant
ACCOUNTABLE TO: Manager & Senior Carer on duty
JOB PURPOSE:
To provide high quality care to all residents as directed by and under supervision of the on duty senior.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*QUALITY AND REGULATION
1. To deliver high quality personal care following the care plan and individual residents wishes to ensure the comfort and dignity of each resident
2. Adhere to the local safeguarding policy, following the duty of candour requirements
3. Understand the importance of privacy, dignity, choice and consent and uphold these basic rights at all times
4. Complete all regulatory and statutory training requirements and comply with all company policies and procedures whilst at work
5. Ensure that residents receive one-to-one quality time when on duty
6. In consultation with the resident / families offer support to maintain the residents room, clothing and property in order
*CLINICAL
1. Record observations including weight, temperature, pulse, blood pressure, nutrition, tissue viability and liquid intake/output as identified in the care plan
2. Support residents in understanding the ageing process and how it affects their health and lifestyle/ support residents to maximise their independence and create the environment which supports their physical and mental well-being and ensure that all residents are treated with dignity
*GENERAL
1. Establish professional working relationships with the residents, their families and friends to provide a safe and reassuring environment
2. Work collaboratively within the clinical team to promote a healthy, professional and friendly atmosphere for all residents and their families and friends
3. Maintain communication and working relationships with healthcare professionals in the home
4. Support new residents and their families to the home in orientation of the environment
5. Be professional, courteous and transparent in your communication
6. Attend opportunities for personal training and development
7. Any other reasonable task requested by the senior on duty which is within your competence
8. To support residents physically as per their individual care plan
*WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Bank holiday and weekend working
2. Shift working
3. This is a physically demanding role, you will be required to stand for extended periods of time and do repetitive tasks with few breaks
PERSON SPECIFICATION
*EDUCATION, TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL - Level 2 NVQ or Diploma in Health and Social care
DESIRABLE - GCSE English and Maths at Grade C or above
*KNOWLEDGE
ESSENTIAL - Able to demonstrate specific knowledge of care in the older person
*EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL - Care home or caring experience

Pay: Up to £12.71 per hour
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Spalding PE12 9DF: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
