Job Description:
At Illingworth Ingham (Timber Supplies) Ltd, we are an independent family run Timber Merchant and have continued to be a successful business within the timber industry with prospective growth plans for the future. We produce bespoke, high-end timber & timber products.
We have six branches in the North West which in addition to them selling timber they also supply general building and DIY materials to a mixture of trade and general public customers.
We now have an immediate requirement for a Class 2 Hiab Driver to join our team.
The Role
Drivers are a vital part of our team, you will be responsible for transporting goods safely and efficiently, ensuring timely deliveries while adhering to all road safety regulations. This role requires excellent communication and customer service and the ability to handle heavy lifting as part of the delivery process.
HOURS OF WORK
Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 16:30 Friday 07:30 - 16:00pm & Saturdays 08:00 – 12:30 On a Rota
Key Responsibilities of the Driver
- Operate our vehicles in a safe and responsible manner, ensuring compliance with all traffic laws and regulations.
- Ensuring the safe and efficient loading and unloading of goods, performing manual lifting as required.
- Preparing the vehicle by conducting operator maintenance, reporting any defects to the Manager /Assistant.
- Be friendly and polite to customers at all times.
- To complete daily walk-around check as required, and complete Daily pre drive check list.
- To maintain contact with the transport department and communicate any issues as soon as they arise.
- To ensure delivery records are completed and returned to the branch
Skills, Knowledge and Experience required by the Driver
- Previous experience within the Timber/Builders Merchant environment is desirable
- Hiab Licence is desirable but not required – Further training will be provided for the right candidate
- Knowledge of strapping and sheeting
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate record keeping
- Good safety practices and driving habits
- Class 2 Licence
- Digitacho Card
- CPC
- A good understanding of Driver hours and regulations
- Good customer service skills

You will be required to have excellent attendance and punctuality levels. Manual handling training & knowledge of health & safety are a requirement.
We would expect the candidate to comply with all company rules, policies and procedures, also to adhere to the company’s Health and Safety Policy and the wearing of PPE where required. (The company will provide all PPE required and uniform is provided)
