Job Overview
Matlock Golf Club is seeking an enthusiastic, friendly, and customer-focused person to join the team in the retail Professional Shop and help deliver an exceptional experience for our members and visitors. This role involves providing excellent customer service, assisting with sales, and maintaining an organised retail environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be attentive to detail, and have a passion for delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Working closely with the PGA Head Professional, you will play a key role in the day-to-day operation of the Professional Shop, providing excellent customer service while helping to ensure the smooth running of one of Derbyshire's most welcoming golf clubs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service to members, guests and visitors.
- Assist with the daily operation of the Professional Shop.
- Process shop sales, green fees and customer transactions accurately.
- Complete daily cashing-up procedures.
- Open and close the Professional Shop in accordance with club operating hours.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and professional retail environment both inside the shop and around the first tee area.
- Answer telephone enquiries and direct messages appropriately.
- Receive and check deliveries.
- Assist with stock control, merchandising, ordering and inventory management.
- Support club competitions, open events and tournament operations.
- Help manage the practice facilities and driving range, including ball collection and maintaining cleanliness.
- Act as the on-site point of contact when the Head Professional is away from the shop.
- Minimum 18 Hours per week Monday to Sunday
About You
The ideal candidate will:
- Have excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Be organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Be comfortable handling cash and retail transactions.
- Have a positive and professional attitude.
- Enjoy working with people in a sporting and hospitality environment.
- Have a keen interest in golf (preferred but not essential).
- Be flexible and willing to work weekends, bank holidays and during club events when required.
