About the role
A family owned care group is opening a new, purpose designed specialist children's home and is seeking an exceptional Registered Manager to lead it through Ofsted registration and beyond. This is a rare opportunity to shape a home from the very start.
The service is registering as a multi building children's home (one registration across four single occupancy buildings, for up to four children) and is distinctive in that all of its buildings sit within a single, purpose built development on one site, a co-located model that supports strong, consistent oversight across the whole home. It will provide highly specialist care for children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and associated mental health needs.
What you'll do
- Hold Ofsted registration as manager and lead the home in full compliance with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and the Quality Standards.
- Lead safe, least-restrictive, child-centred practice with robust safeguarding, risk management and accurate recording.
- Deliver sustainable care pathways
- Recruit safely and lead, supervise, train and develop a skilled staff team; manage rotas, on-call and deputising.
- Embed effective monitoring and quality assurance (including Regulation 45 reviews) and work in strong partnership with local authorities, families, health and education.
- Prepare for, and lead the home through, Ofsted registration and inspection to a Good or better judgement.
What we're looking for (essential)
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare.
- Current or recent Registered Manager of a children's home, with a Good or Outstanding Ofsted judgement achieved under your leadership.
- Significant experience in residential childcare — at least 5 years overall, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Experience supporting children with learning disabilities, physical disabilities and/or complex needs.
- Experience of Ofsted registration and/or inspection.
Desirable
- Experience of short-breaks provision and/or multi-building homes.
- Experience of leading a home from registration, or improving a home to Good or Outstanding.
- Therapeutic / positive-behaviour-support approaches; PACE and PRICE; epilepsy and medication competence; Makaton or BSL.
What we offer
- Salary of £65,000 per year, plus a registration bonus payable on successful Ofsted registration.
- Full-time, permanent role with ongoing development, supervision and support from an experienced Responsible Individual and a dedicated Training and Development Lead.
- The chance to be the founding manager of a distinctive, purpose-built specialist home.
