Job Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and reliable Security Officer to be available as relief for a production site in Rotherham. Relief work will largely fall on the weekends (Friday night - Sunday day) but may be required during the week as well. The relief office can expect to do between 1-3 shifts every month on the site. Paid training will be provided.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining a secure environment through proactive surveillance and prompt response to incidents. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to the safety and security of our organisation while working in a professional and supportive environment.
Duties
- Conduct regular surveillance patrols of the premises to deter unauthorised access and identify potential security risks.
- Monitor CCTV systems continuously to observe activity and respond appropriately to any suspicious behaviour or incidents.
- Implement loss prevention strategies by observing and reporting theft or vandalism attempts.
- Respond swiftly to emergencies, including medical incidents, by providing first aid when necessary.
- Maintain detailed incident reports and communicate effectively with management regarding security concerns.
- Enforce access control procedures, verifying credentials of staff, visitors, and contractors.
- Assist in emergency evacuations and ensure all safety protocols are followed during incidents.
Requirements
- Proven experience in surveillance, loss prevention, or security roles is preferred.
- Knowledge of CCTV operation and monitoring techniques is essential.
- First aid certification or willingness to undertake training is highly desirable.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle stressful situations professionally.
- Excellent observational skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to document incidents accurately.
- Physically fit with the capacity to patrol large areas and stand for extended periods.
- A valid security licence or certification as required by local regulations is preferred but not mandatory. This position offers a vital role in maintaining a safe environment for all personnel and visitors while providing opportunities for professional development within the security industry.
Pay: £13.45 per hour
