Job Purpose
To ensure the accurate, safe, and timely dispatch of aerospace components and assemblies in accordance with customer requirements, company procedures, and aerospace quality standards. The Dispatch Operator is responsible for preparing shipments, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring all associated documentation is completed correctly and compliantly.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Pick and prepare customer orders in line with production and dispatch schedules.
- Package aerospace components and assemblies using approved packaging methods to ensure products are protected during transportation.
- Ensure all items are correctly identified, labelled, and packaged in accordance with customer and company requirements.
- Complete all despatch documentation accurately, including delivery notes, shipping labels, export documentation (where applicable), and customer-specific paperwork.
- Arrange collections with approved couriers, freight providers, and logistics partners.
- Safely load and unload vehicles using appropriate material handling equipment.
- Carry out final visual inspections to ensure products are free from damage and meet shipment requirements prior to despatch.
- Process inventory transactions accurately within the company's ERP/MRP system.
- Support stock control activities including cycle counts, stock checks, and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Ensure FIFO (First In, First Out) principles are maintained where applicable.
- Liaise with Production, Quality, Planning, Purchasing, and Customer Service departments to achieve customer delivery commitments.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organised working environment in accordance with 5S principles.
- Comply with all Health & Safety procedures, company policies, and environmental requirements.
- Support continuous improvement activities aimed at enhancing efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required by the business.

- Ensuring the accuracy of all shipments dispatched from the facility.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace organisation within the despatch area.
- Protecting customer products from damage throughout handling, storage, and transportation processes.
- Promptly reporting stock discrepancies, damaged goods, packaging concerns, or process issues.
- Ensuring full compliance with customer requirements, aerospace quality standards, and company procedures.
- Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and operational excellence.
Person Specification
Essential Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working within a warehouse, stores, logistics, or despatch environment.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work accurately under pressure whilst meeting delivery deadlines.
- Basic computer literacy and experience using ERP/MRP systems.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Understanding of manual handling techniques and safe working practices.
- Flexible approach to work and willingness to support wider operational activities when required.
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Previous experience within an aerospace, engineering, or precision manufacturing environment.
- Forklift Truck Licence (Counterbalance and/or Reach).
- Experience using Epicor ERP or similar manufacturing systems.
- Knowledge and experience of export shipping documentation and customs requirements.
- Experience working within AS9100 and/or ISO9001 quality management systems.
