Assistant Accountant
Location: Clevedon (office-based)
Salary: £27,500 (rising to £30,000 after successful 6-month probation)

About Allegro Logistics
Allegro Logistics is a growing, North Somerset based logistics and fulfilment business supporting e-commerce brands with storage, distribution and shipping solutions.
The business operates modern warehouse facilities and uses integrated systems to manage everything from order fulfilment through to delivery.
With continued growth, the company is looking to strengthen its finance function by bringing an experienced Assistant Accountant into the team.
The Role
This is a hands-on role working directly with the Directors and alongside the company’s external accountants.
You will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function across a group of companies, ensuring records are accurate, up to date, and well organised, while supporting wider financial management and decision making.
Key Responsibilities
Maintaining accounting records across the group using Xero
Processing purchase invoices and raising sales invoices
Managing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Posting journals, including accruals and prepayments
Supporting the preparation of monthly management accounts, providing accurate data and analysis
Assisting with VAT return preparation and submission
Assisting with payroll processing
Managing and maintaining the Dext system for receipt capture
Supporting credit control and chasing outstanding balances
Assisting with supplier payment planning and cashflow awareness
Working closely with the Directors and external accountants
Skills & Experience
Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping or accounts role
Strong working knowledge of Xero or similar cloud accounting software
Experience supporting VAT returns and payroll processing
Good understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and month end processes
Strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyse data and support reporting
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Able to work independently and take ownership of the role
Confident communication skills and comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders
Desirable
Experience using Dext
Exposure to Mintsoft or working within logistics, fulfilment or e-commerce environments
AAT qualified or studying
