Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced 18 Ton Driver to operate the safe and efficient transportation of goods. The ideal candidate will possess strong driving skills, particularly in commercial driving, and have at least 2 years experience in delivery roles. This position offers an opportunity to work within a professional environment where safety and punctuality are paramount. The successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of cargo while maintaining vehicle safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate 18-ton vehicles in compliance with all road safety regulations and company policies
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and roadworthiness
- Secure cargo properly on the flatbed to prevent movement during transit
- Plan delivery routes efficiently to meet schedules and optimise fuel consumption
- Assist with loading and unloading goods as required, ensuring careful handling of all items
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, mileage, and vehicle maintenance reports
- Follow all health and safety procedures during operations to minimise risks on the road and at delivery sites
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving
- Prior experience as a delivery driver is highly desirable
- Valid driving licence suitable for operating an 18-ton lorry with appropriate categories
- Knowledge of road safety regulations and best practices for secure cargo transportation
- Familiarity with route planning tools and GPS systems is advantageous
