Senior Fuel Systems Engineer
Location: UK-wide (field-based, with occasional overseas travel)
Salary: £36,500 base OTE £41,500 | Per diem + overtime | Full-time, Permanent
The Role
We're looking for an experienced field engineer to join a small, busy team working on diesel fuel systems across a wide range of client sites throughout the UK. The work is hands-on and varied — installation, maintenance, inspection, fault diagnosis, confined space work — and no two weeks look the same. If you're used to being on the road and want a role where you're actually doing the work rather than supervising it, this could be a good fit.
What You'll Be Doing
- Installing, servicing, and maintaining fuel systems and associated equipment
- Carrying out inspections and ensuring sites meet regulatory and safety standards
- Diagnosing faults and completing repairs efficiently on-site
- Writing up technical reports and site documentation after visits
- Dealing directly with clients on-site in a professional manner
- Travelling regularly across the UK, with occasional overseas assignments
What We're Looking For
- Solid background in mechanical engineering, fuel systems, or a closely related trade
- Experience with fuel storage, pumping, or distribution systems (preferred)
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and varied site environments
- Methodical, safety-conscious, and able to problem-solve independently
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel and stay away from home regularly
Useful to Have
- Relevant engineering qualifications or certifications
- Welding or electrical competencies
- Familiarity with fuel system regulations and compliance requirements
- Previous experience in a field-based engineering role
