Plymouth’s award-winning Mayflower Marina is seeking to appoint a Part Time Night Bosun.
About Us
Mayflower Marina is an award-winning marina in Plymouth, providing 24/7 support to our resident berth holders and visiting vessels. We are looking for a reliable and customer-focused Part-Time Night Bosun to join our team.
The Role
This is a varied and rewarding position where no two shifts are the same. You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and security of the marina while providing excellent customer service to berth holders and visitors.
Key responsibilities include:
- Assisting resident and visiting vessels on arrival and departure
- Delivering excellent customer service and responding to customer requests
- Reception and administrative duties
- Fuel and gas sales
- Cash handling and payment processing
- Using marina management software
- Conducting marina and security patrols
- Completing facility inspections and ensuring site cleanliness
- Recording incidents, observations, and maintenance issues
- Managing the marina independently during night shifts
- Maintaining health and safety standards at all times
Shift Pattern
Working on a rota basis, shifts will include:
- Evening shifts: 4:00pm to Midnight
- Night shifts: 11:30pm to 8:00am
- Weekend working required on a 1-in-3 rota
About You

- Enthusiastic, proactive, and eager to learn
- Able to work responsibly without supervision
Essential Requirements
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Basic IT competency
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a marina, marine, leisure, or customer service environment
- Boat handling experience or RYA qualifications
- VHF Operator's Certificate
- Fuel sales experience
- Cash handling experience
- Health & Safety qualifications
