About the Role:
Premium POS Retail Technology Services develops and supports digital retail systems designed to help businesses manage transactions, inventory, ordering, and customer operations more effectively.
We are looking for a Software Engineering Manager who can take ownership of engineering delivery across business critical software products. You will guide engineering teams, improve development practices, coordinate technical priorities, and work closely with product, operations, and implementation teams to deliver reliable software at scale.
This role is suited to someone who combines strong software engineering knowledge with practical leadership. You will be expected to understand technical tradeoffs, support engineers through complex delivery challenges, and ensure development work remains aligned with product and business priorities.

Key Responsibilities:
Engineering Management:
Oversee day to day software engineering delivery and ensure development priorities are clearly understood and effectively executed.
Team Leadership:
Support and guide software engineers, provide regular feedback, encourage knowledge sharing, and help maintain consistent engineering standards.
Technical Delivery:
Coordinate the delivery of new features, system improvements, integrations, and technical projects from planning through release.
Code Quality:
Promote strong development practices including code reviews, testing, documentation, maintainability, and secure software development.
Architecture:
Work with senior engineers to review technical approaches and ensure systems remain scalable, reliable, and appropriate for business requirements.
Release Management:
Coordinate software releases with engineering, product, quality assurance, and operations teams to reduce disruption and improve release quality.
Performance Monitoring:
Track engineering performance, delivery progress, technical issues, and recurring development bottlenecks.
Incident Support:
Support engineering teams during significant production issues and help ensure root causes are properly investigated and resolved.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to improve development workflows, technical documentation, testing practices, and engineering efficiency.
Stakeholder Management:
Communicate technical priorities, risks, progress, and delivery expectations clearly to product and business stakeholders.
Resource Planning:
Support workload planning, technical prioritisation, and team capacity management across multiple engineering initiatives.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience:
At least 6 years of professional software engineering experience with previous responsibility for leading, mentoring, or managing engineers.
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of modern software development, application architecture, APIs, databases, cloud environments, testing, and deployment practices.
Leadership:
Experience supporting engineering teams, setting technical expectations, conducting reviews, and helping developers grow professionally.
Software Delivery:
Proven experience delivering production software through the full development lifecycle.
Problem Solving:
Strong ability to investigate complex technical issues, evaluate different solutions, and make practical decisions.
Quality Focus:
Good understanding of software testing, code quality, security, reliability, and maintainable engineering practices.
Organisation:
Excellent planning and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage several technical initiatives and deadlines.
Stakeholder Skills:
Able to work effectively with engineers, product teams, business stakeholders, and external technology partners.
Communication:
Strong written and verbal English communication skills with the ability to explain technical issues clearly to both technical and non technical audiences.

Pay: £4,600.00-£5,500.00 per month
