At Sodexo, you'll belong in a supportive kitchen team where everyone plays an important part in delivering a great food service. As a Kitchen Porter, you'll work alongside the chefs and Kitchen Porters, helping to keep the kitchen, pot wash and wider back-of-house areas clean, organised and running efficiently.
This is a busy corporate environment where food is prepared and served on a large scale serving 800 to 1,500 customers. You'll work as part of a team to keep up with service, ensuring clean dishes, pots, pans and equipment are always available when needed. You'll also support with food waste, deliveries, cleaning and general kitchen duties, helping the team deliver a smooth service every day.
This is a great opportunity to build your experience within a professional kitchen, with training and development available for those who are keen to learn and progress.
What you'll do

Clean and wash dishes, crockery, cutlery, pots, pans and kitchen equipment

Work as part of a team of 4–5 Kitchen Porters on the pot wash line

Keep the pot wash area clean, organised and running efficiently throughout service

Support the kitchen team before, during and after service
-
Ensure production areas, equipment, machinery and floors are kept clean and hygienic
-
Clear food waste and kitchen bins safely and efficiently
-
Support with the acceptance and storage of deliveries
-
Help move and put away stock and equipment when required
-
Ensure clean crockery, utensils and equipment are available when needed
-
Follow daily and weekly cleaning schedules and maintain required records
-
Maintain clean, tidy and safe standards across the kitchen, wash-up and back-of-house areas

Identify and report hazards, defects or damaged equipment
-
Follow food safety, HACCP, COSHH, health & safety and company procedures
-
Attend required training and meetings
-
Support colleagues and assist wherever required
-
Carry out any other reasonable duties requested by management
What you'll bring
-
Previous Kitchen Porter, kitchen, cleaning, hospitality or similar experience is beneficial
-
A positive, reliable and professional approach to work

Ability to work effectively as part of a busy kitchen team
-
Good communication and organisational skills
-
Ability to manage your time effectively and work to cleaning schedules
-
Good understanding of the importance of cleanliness and hygiene in a kitchen
-
Ability to follow instructions and company procedures

Willingness to learn and develop new kitchen skills

A flexible and helpful approach to supporting colleagues

Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment

Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards

Ability to work independently when required

Understanding of food safety and HACCP requirements

Physically able to work in a busy kitchen environment, including being on your feet, washing up, cleaning and moving stock/equipment

Professional appearance and commitment to wearing the correct uniform
Desirable:

Previous Kitchen Porter or pot wash experience

Experience working in a high-volume kitchen or catering environment

Food Hygiene training

HACCP knowledge

COSHH awareness

Experience working as part of a larger kitchen team

Experience within a corporate, hotel, restaurant or hospitality environment
