Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled or semiskilled HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining commercial vehicles and trailers to ensure optimal safety, performance, and compliance with industry standards. Your expertise will keep our vehicles and customers vehicles operating smoothly, minimizing downtime and supporting our commitment to reliable transport services. Responsibilities
- Carry out inspections of HGVs.
- Perform repairs and maintenance using a wide range of tools.
- Interpret schematics and technical manuals to diagnose electrical and mechanical faults accurately.
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs, maintenance activities, and parts used for compliance and future reference.
- Assist with the assembly and disassembly of vehicle components during repairs or upgrades.
- Support the repair and maintenance of auxiliary equipment as required.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and industry regulations while promoting a safe working environment.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with team members and clients regarding vehicle status or repair timelines.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks safely using appropriate equipment to handle large or cumbersome parts.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an HGV mechanic or in a similar heavy vehicle maintenance role.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in repairing trailers and commercial vehicles.
- Have at least a car driving license but a Class 1 license would be desirable.
- Industry-standard qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ
- Ability to work unsupervised.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail during inspections and repairs.
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively within a team environment.

Pay: £14.50-£23.00 per hour
