Disassembly, Assembly and Certification Development Role
Biggleswade, Bedfordshire | Full-time | 8-hour shifts + overtime
Role summary
Brinkley Aerospace is seeking an experienced, hands-on mechanic or technician with at least five years of practical mechanical experience who can transition quickly from propeller disassembly to propeller assembly and, with the right performance and training, progress towards company certification authorisation within approximately 18 months. The role is ideal for a motivated individual with strong mechanical competency, excellent attention to detail, and a growth mindset who wants to build a specialist career in aviation propeller maintenance.
Key responsibilities
· Disassemble aircraft propellers and associated components in accordance with approved technical data.
· Clean and prepare components for inspection and overhaul.
· Use standard and specialist hand tools, measuring equipment and workshop machinery.
· Carry out Plastic Media Blasting (PMB), glass blasting and aluminium blade grinding as required.
· Progress into propeller assembly, rebuild and testing under supervision and approved procedures.
· Prepare completed propellers for delivery and progressively sign maintenance paperwork within authorisation limits.
· Work safely and accurately within a small team, taking ownership of quality and workmanship.
· Comply with all company procedures, airworthiness requirements and management instructions.
Candidate profile
· Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical experience in aviation, automotive, motorsport, military, heavy engineering, manufacturing or a similar technical environment.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and confidence working with hand tools, measuring equipment and complex assemblies.
· Ability to read and follow technical instructions, procedures and maintenance data.
· High level of attention to detail, reliability, and pride in work.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit technical team.
· Good general computer literacy and accurate paperwork completion.
Desirable experience
· Experience in aviation maintenance, propeller maintenance, engine building, gearbox/rotating equipment, hydraulics or precision mechanical assembly.
· Aviation apprenticeship, engineering apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.
· Experience working in a regulated quality-controlled environment.
· Knowledge of maintenance documentation, inspection records, and certification processes.
Training and development
· You will be mentored by experienced and qualified Brinkley staff.
· Progression will be achieved by demonstrating a high level of mechanical competency and a growth mindset.
· You will transition from propeller disassembly to propeller building, gaining an appreciation of how propellers work and why safety is essential in aviation.
· You will develop an understanding of the regulatory requirements of working in a Part 145 approved organisation.
· Training will cover approved maintenance data, airworthiness awareness, human factors, quality standards and progressive certification responsibilities.
· The long-term objective is to develop the successful candidate into a competent propeller builder and, subject to performance and authorisation, a certifier within approximately 18 months.

Working conditions
· Full-time position (Monday – Friday)
· 8-hour shift pattern with overtime available.
· Applicants must be able to reliably commute to Biggleswade, SG18 8UB.
· Salary dependent on experience.
· 3 Month probationary period with periodic check in points at 30,60,90 days.
