Production Foreman
Salary: £34,340 rising to £36,608 after successful probation, plus shift allowance and attendance bonus - All in earnings circa £43,000
An established manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Production Foreman to join its operations team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong people manager with manufacturing experience who enjoys leading teams, driving standards, and improving operational performance.
This role is particularly suited to someone with a background in production supervision, compliance, health & safety, employee development, and continuous improvement. While manufacturing experience is essential, the successful candidate will be supported by an experienced technical team, allowing them to focus on leadership, performance management, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and develop production teams to achieve performance and safety objectives.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, quality standards, and health & safety regulations.
- Coordinate daily production activities to meet operational targets and deadlines.
- Monitor productivity, identify improvement opportunities, and support lean manufacturing initiatives.
- Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and employee development activities.
- Manage investigations relating to accidents, incidents, near misses, and process failures.
- Support disciplinary and performance management procedures where required.
- Work closely with quality, maintenance, planning, and production teams to ensure efficient operations.
- Promote a positive safety culture and maintain excellent housekeeping standards.
- Maintain accurate records relating to production, attendance, downtime, and performance metrics.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous supervisory, team leader, or management experience.
- Strong understanding of health & safety, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage people, resolve issues, and make effective decisions.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Competent with Microsoft Office applications.
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent).
Desirable
- Experience within steel, metal processing, engineering, or heavy manufacturing.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience conducting investigations, training, or performance management activities.
Package
Starting Salary
- £16.51 per hour (£34,340 per annum)
Following Successful Probation
- £17.60 per hour (£36,608 per annum)

- AM Shift: £1.00 per hour
- PM Shift: £1.15 per hour
- Night Shift: £2.00 per hour
