About the role
LMA Services is seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Maintenance Engineer to join our engineering team at our Pocklington site.
This is a hands-on position with an electrical bias; however, good mechanical knowledge and practical fault-finding ability are essential. The successful candidate will work alongside another engineer, with both engineers reporting directly to the Engineering Manager.
The role will involve a mixture of planned and reactive maintenance, breakdown response and engineering improvement work. We are looking for someone who can take ownership of engineering tasks, provide technical ability and help improve the reliability, safety and performance of our production equipment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide hands-on technical assistance within the engineering team.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical equipment faults.
- Respond effectively to production breakdowns and minimise equipment downtime.
- Carry out planned preventive maintenance on production equipment and site services.
- Identify recurring faults and implement effective, long-term corrective actions.
- Lead and support engineering improvement and equipment reliability projects.
- Assist with the installation, commissioning and modification of machinery and electrical systems.
- Produce and update maintenance records, technical information and electrical documentation.
- Ensure engineering work is completed safely and in accordance with site procedures.
- Support contractors and ensure their work is properly controlled and coordinated.
- Work closely with production, EHS and management to plan engineering activities.
- Maintain good housekeeping and appropriate control of engineering tools, parts and materials.
- Support occasional planned weekend work when equipment is unavailable during normal production hours.
Essential experience and skills
- Strong industrial electrical maintenance and fault-finding experience.
- Good mechanical engineering knowledge and practical maintenance capability.
- Experience maintaining production, manufacturing or process equipment.
- Ability to diagnose faults methodically and work effectively under pressure.
- Experience with motors, sensors, contactors, relays, control panels and industrial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings and mechanical documentation.
- A recognised electrical qualification, ideally including the 18th Edition Wiring Regulations, AM2 or an equivalent qualification.
- A safety-conscious and responsible approach to engineering work.
- Good communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while supporting and guiding another engineer.
Desirable experience
- Experience working within an aerosol filling, chemical, process or similarly regulated manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of ATEX requirements and equipment used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
- Experience with PLC-controlled machinery and automated production equipment.
- Experience of machinery upgrades, installations and continuous improvement projects.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and maintenance planning.
- Experience supervising or providing technical leadership to other engineers.
Working arrangements
This is a permanent, day-based position working from 09:30 to 18:00, Monday to Friday, with no routine on-call requirement.
Some planned weekend work will occasionally be required to complete maintenance, installation or improvement work while production equipment is not in use. Additional hours and approved weekend work will be paid as overtime.

Pay: £32,000.00-£52,000.00 per year
