Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Cafe Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while assisting with food preparation and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety. This position is flexible part time so will work well for someone that maybe already has a job or is studying and just wants a few hours extra.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of food items, ensuring adherence to food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the cafe area, including tables, counters, and kitchen equipment.
- Make and serve nicely presented coffee
- Serve customers promptly and courteously, taking orders accurately and efficiently.
- Help manage inventory by restocking supplies as needed and reporting any shortages.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
- Perform basic maths to handle transactions and provide accurate change to customers.
- Assist with any additional tasks as required by management to enhance customer experience.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a cafe or food service environment is preferred but not essential.
- Strong time management skills to prioritise tasks effectively during busy shifts.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety regulations is an advantage.
- Basic maths skills for handling cash transactions accurately.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly disposition towards customers and colleagues.
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment while also being self-motivated.
