Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activity Coordinator to enhance the quality of life for residents in our care facility. 30hrs a week contract available. The successful candidate will plan, organise, and facilitate engaging activities tailored to the needs of our residents, with a focus on promoting social interaction, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing. Experience in assisted living, nursing home environments, or senior care is highly desirable. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults, including those requiring dementia or Alzheimer's care.
Duties
- Develop and implement a diverse programme of activities suitable for residents with varying needs, including those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Organise group events, individual activities, and special occasions that encourage participation and socialisation
- Collaborate with care staff to assess residents’ interests and abilities, ensuring activities are personalised and inclusive
- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and activity outcomes
- Foster a warm and welcoming environment that promotes independence and dignity among residents
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to residents during activities
- Monitor safety during activities and adapt plans as necessary to accommodate individual needs
Experience
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or senior care environments is preferred
- Knowledge of dementia care and Alzheimer’s care techniques is advantageous
- Proven caregiving skills with excellent communication abilities are essential
- Familiarity with organising engaging activities for elderly residents, particularly those with cognitive impairments
- Compassionate approach with strong organisational skills to manage multiple activities effectively
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing high-quality care
