Senior night Carer
Reports To:
Deputy Manager / Registered Manager
Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality, person-centred care to residents and support the effective running of the care home by supervising care staff, administering medication, and ensuring residents receive safe, dignified, and compassionate care.
Key ResponsibilitiesCare Delivery
- Provide personal care and support to residents in accordance with their individual care plans.
- Promote residents' independence, dignity, privacy, and choice.
- Monitor residents' health and wellbeing and report any changes promptly.
- Support residents with mobility, nutrition, hydration, and social activities.
Leadership and Supervision
- Lead and supervise care staff during shifts.
- Delegate tasks appropriately and ensure duties are completed to a high standard.
- Provide support, guidance, and mentoring to care team members.
- Assist with staff inductions and training where required.
Medication
- Administer, record, and manage medication in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Report any medication errors or concerns immediately.
Record Keeping and Compliance
- Maintain accurate care records and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with CQC standards, safeguarding procedures, health and safety requirements, and company policies.
- Report incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns promptly.
Communication
- Communicate effectively with residents, relatives, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.
- Participate in handovers, meetings, and reviews of care plans.
General Duties
- Attend mandatory training and professional development sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties requested by management.
Flexibility Clause
The Senior Carer will normally be based at the designated care home. However, to meet the operational needs of the organisation, the post holder may be required to work at any of the company's sister homes as reasonably requested by management. Appropriate notice will be given wherever possible.
Person SpecificationEssential
- NVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
- Experience working in a residential care setting.
- Experience supervising care staff.
- Medication administration training and competency.
- Good communication and leadership skills.
- We do not offer Sponsorship.
Desirable
- Experience supporting individuals living with dementia.
- Knowledge of CQC regulations and best practice in adult social care.
Pay: £13.30 per hour
