Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our small but busy garage in Cramlington. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting MOT tests, vehicle safety inspections, performing essential repairs, and ensuring vehicles meet all legal standards for roadworthiness. Your expertise will help keep our customers safe on the road while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive MOT testing to assess vehicle safety, emissions, and roadworthiness in accordance with legal requirements.
- Perform routine vehicle repairs and maintenance, including brake checks, suspension work, tire replacements, and fluid top-ups.
- Use hand tools and power tools effectively to diagnose issues and carry out repairs with precision.
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, repairs, and test results to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identify potential mechanical issues during inspections and communicate findings clearly to customers or team members.
- Support the team by maintaining a clean and organized workshop environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are in good working order.
Qualifications
- Minimum Level 3 qualified.
- Current MOT tester qualification.
- Proven mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience working on a variety of vehicles.
- Familiarity with using hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely as part of daily duties.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills to explain technical issues clearly to customers or team members.
