This Role Matters
As a Level 5 Early Years Educator, you are one of the strongest people in the nursery. You combine advanced knowledge of child development, learning and inclusion with a passion for supporting others to become even better educators. This is not a management role, but a practice leadership role. Colleagues naturally look to you for advice, coaching and guidance because of your expertise, professionalism and commitment to outstanding early years education. Working alongside your Head of Nursery, Assistant Head of Nursery and Room Managers, you help embed our Cherubs' curriculum, championing communication and language, while strengthening inclusive practice and supporting continuous improvement across your setting. You lead through influence rather than hierarchy, never losing sight of what matters most: happy, safe and thriving children.
What You’ll Be Accountable For

- Deliver exceptional early years education through expert knowledge of child development and the EYFS
- Champion the implementation of our bespoke Cherubs curriculum and approach, ensuring communication and language are embedded naturally throughout the day
- Plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality learning experiences that inspire curiosity, independence and confidence
- Use assessment and observations to identify next steps, monitor progress and adapt learning for individual children
- Support colleagues in delivering consistently high-quality interactions and learning experiences
- Promote inclusive practice, working collaboratively with our SENDCo, supporting children with SEND, ASL and EAL through evidence-based approaches and partnership workin
- Ensure environments remain stimulating, safe, welcoming and reflective of children's interests and developmental needs.
Communicating with Purpose - Knowledge is shared, families feel confident, teams learn together
- Build trusted relationships with families, confidently discussing children's learning, development and next step
- Support colleagues in developing high-quality observations, assessments and planning
- Model outstanding communication with children, promoting rich language and meaningful conversations
- Facilitate reflective discussions that encourage continuous improvement across the nursery
- Maintain accurate records using Nursery in a Box and other nursery systems/platforms
Playing to Win - You help good practice become exceptional
- Champion best practice across the nursery through coaching, modelling and mentoring
- Lead or contribute to quality improvement initiatives that strengthen curriculum delivery and children's outcomes
- Support Room Managers, Heads of Nursery and Heads of Department in preparing for internal audits, quality reviews, right through to Ofsted inspections
- Deliver bite-sized practice demonstrations, or even workshops (where appropriate) to colleagu
- Actively use your creativity and contribute ideas that improve children's experiences and the quality of education across your nursery
Seeking out Solutions - You see opportunities before others see problems
- Analyse children's learning - reflect and identify trends or gaps that require intervention
- Share current research and best practice with colleagues, helping ensure practice remains current and evidence informed
- Support Educators in adapting provision to meet individual children's needs
- Encourage reflective practice through constructive coaching conversations with others
- Demonstrate curiosity, continuously seeking ways to improve children's experiences and outcomes
Looking Out for Each Other - You help others become the best educators they can be
- Coach Level 2, Level 3 Educators and Apprentices through positive role modelling and day-to-day mentoring
- Support new colleagues during induction/probation, helping them understand our Cherubs ways
- Celebrate good practice and recognise and celebrate your colleagues' achievements
- Promote a positive, collaborative culture where everyone feels valued and supported
- Share your expertise generously, recognising that improving others ultimately improves outcomes for children (and our business)
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required within the scope of the role
What you'll bring
The ideal qualifications for this role
- Level 5 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or Early Childhood Education (or equivalent)
- GCSE English and Maths Grade 4/C or above (or equivalent)
The ideal experience for this role
- Minimum 4 years' experience working within an early years setting.
- Experience supporting or mentoring colleagues in practice.
- Strong experience delivering the EYFS and supporting children's progress.
- Experience working with children requiring additional support, including SEND and EAL
